Charon's Lot ♫ collaboration with ImpulseGame

The ferryman of Hades who carries the souls of the newly deceased who had the rites of burial, across the river Acheron (or in some later accounts, across the river Styx) that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead.

A coin to pay Charon for passage, usually an obolus or danake, was sometimes placed in or on the mouth of a dead person. Some authors say that those who could not pay the fee, or those whose bodies were left unburied, had to wander the shores for one hundred years, until they were allowed to cross the river.

In the catabasis mytheme, heroes – such as Aeneas, Dionysus, Heracles, Hermes, Odysseus, Orpheus, Pirithous, Psyche, Theseus and Sisyphus – journey to the underworld and return, still alive, conveyed by the boat of Charon.

ImpulseGame:
- instrumental collaboration/contributions: river, muted gong, 3 mid string notes, chime/rumble, energy noise & water droplets

*The original part was put together over about a 4-6 week span & then sat around for a month or two at which time I considered Impuise Game a great candidate for the collaboration. After contacting Impule Game on SoundCloud the Track was sent since there was interest.

A few days later all tracks were received back from Impulse Game for the collaboration and all engineering/mixing was done over about a weeks time. A final part was composed (9 low grumble rows and 6 grumbles from Charon) for the end to compliment the intro 9 muted gong hits to go along with the energy noise / water droplets.
